The Mahila Hakka Saurakshan Samiti was started in 1982 by the late Smt. Kusumtai Patwardhan who was always distraught and pained by dowry deaths, domestic violence, bride burning etc. It was started on a small scale where only some women would join every thursday to discuss about these societal evils which slowly took the shape of a dedicated ngo as more like minded people joined and gave their valuable time and donations for the cause.
