Crowdfunding – Know How

What is crowdfunding

Crowdfunding as the name implies is when a huge amount of people donate funds for a business, venture or noble pursuit, it is known as crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is not a new avenue that has popped up in recent times, many organisations reach out to people for funds and even college events require students to gather funds from people.

So, what makes the term new for Indians?

Online crowdfunding is a pretty new term for many Indians as it is recently that we have seen a boom in the online crowdfunding business. Pandemic had left many people in dire need of funds and crowdfunding helped them to fulfil those needs of theirs. It deals with many different aspects like environmental protection, animals, Plants, women empowerment, etc. Campaigns are made for specific needs and then people pool their resources together for the betterment of the society.

Why Crowdfunding

Everyone is very busy in their everyday lives and you cannot help but sometimes think about what you really are doing to improve our planet or how you wish you could do something for the planet and its people. The mission of charitable crowdfunding is to bring people together for a noble cause and revive humanity. It is the easiest way to raise funds for an urgent cause, for example: if someone needs money for a surgery, he can even get the money within 24 hours by network marketing of his campaign. It connects people from across the globe to come together as helping hands. A successful campaign can be a lifting stone for the crowdfunding platform as well so that they can connect more people to bring a change in society.

How does it work

Crowding works in very few simple steps:

  • An organisation or an individual approaches a crowdfunding platform
  • They are requested to give their details and the details of the cause they are hoping to raise money for
  • Then they create a campaign for people to donate on
  • The campaign gets marketed on social media to raise awareness
  • People come forward to donate money for the campaign
  • The amount collected is then transferred to the victim
  • Helping them to achieve the funding required for the cause

Why Do Dogs Run Away?

Why Do Dogs Run Away?

Are you a dog owner who is concerned about your dog running away? It is, indeed, a valid concern.

You’re most likely doing all in your power to keep them safe and happy. But, are you still wondering, ‘why does my dog run away from me?’ They may just become distracted, puzzled, or fearful of a particular situation.

You may encounter this problem when you adopt a new dog or pup. Having them run away will undoubtedly make you nervous. Is there anything you can do to help? Sure.

Understanding that point of view, here’s an article about why your dog runs away and how to avoid it.

Why Do Dogs Run Away?
Why Run Away?

It's their time to mate or your dog is afraid of something

During the height of their heat, they feel compelled to mate with the opposite sex.

In this scenario, they wait until they can rush out to find their mate. Be prepared if you have other dogs in your neighborhood or strays nearby. That is when they wait to run away from home and pounce on the other dogs to mate. It is natural, but certainly something you should look into.

The question of ‘why do dogs run away from home?’ is a familiar one. Fear is the most common reason for dogs to flee. It may be fireworks or anything else that makes them afraid. Thunderstorms affect dogs adversely too. In such situations, your pet may become disoriented and get lost.

Even if you have well-trained your pet, they are prone to flee if they are afraid. Examine the surroundings to determine what spooked them, whether specific sound, item, or person

"Dogs don't make our whole lives, but they make our lives whole." - Roger Caras

Why Do Dogs Run Away?
What Should He Choose?

They have anxiety, They don't get to go out often or it is simply frustrated

Some dogs are born anxious, while others develop it later in life. You could also notice them acting strangely, such as whimpering in the middle of the night.

If you’re wondering, “why does my dog keeps running away” it might be due to separation anxiety. If they were separated from their mother or brood when they were much older than newborn pups, they might desire to flee due to separation anxiety.

Have you ever thought that you might not be walking your dog enough? Your pet may like snuggling on his bed, but he prefers to go for walks too. It is an important aspect of their routine that you should not neglect.

They will have the temptation to run out and have fun if you don’t take them out frequently enough.

Your dog may get annoyed, anxious, or frustrated. Why? That might be because you leave them alone too frequently, tether them, or simply do not love them enough.

At the end of the day, they’re just like kids. They want your full attention, and if you don’t provide it to them, they may try to flee

How to Choose a Right Dog

How to Choose a Right Dog

Finally, you are getting a dog!

You are finally planning to buy or adopt a dog. That is a huge step. But, how do you make sure that you are choosing the right one? Here are four things you should think about before buying ot adopting a dog.

How to Choose a Right Dog
Dogs Everywhere

I thought she was doing her bit for the animals by being vegan, but it stumbled upon her one day that not participating in cruelty is not enough; She needed to do more. During the #lockdown, she got time to introspect. She decided to shut down her business, and that’s when she applied to Peepal Farm – an animal rescue organization in Himachal Pradesh, to work for animals’ full time.

  1. Knowing the dog’s energy level is very important. This will determine the amount of exercise you need to give the dog and in turn the amount of time you need to invest in him. A high energy dog will require at least an hour of running around or long walks . Whereas a mellow dog will do maybe with half hour of exercise.

2. The need of attention of every dog differs. A dog who stays around you and keeps nudging you will need you to engage with them often. A more independent dog who is content and sits peacefully will not need constant attention from you.

How to Choose a Right Dog
Someone Furr Everyone

3. The age of the dog is also very important. Raising a puppy is a lot of fun, but will need a lot of patience, training, toys and many more. While a mature dog will need alesser amount of training and time.

4. And if Veterinary bills are a consideration, then mixed breed dogs fit the bill better as they have lesser health issues. A pure pedigree dog can require more maintenance.

And in case you do have some money to spare then we suggest you adopt a Special needs dog which we assure you will be far more rewarding and fulfilling. They can have issues such as limited mobility or some allergy but still have a good quality of life and be very loving.

Ashay Bhave – Making Shoes from Recycled Plastic

Ashay Bhave is taking positive steps to make way for a greener future

Recycled Shoes
Ashay Bhave With His Creation

With global brands and next-gen designers making revolutionary materials from mushrooms, pineapple fibres and recycled rubber, the footwear industry is getting a sustainable spin too. Footwear labels like Neeman’s introduced ReLive Knits, a sneaker made from 100% recycled PET bottles, Woodland launched a range of biodegradable footwear and Paadkus designs shoes made from scrap tyres.

Now, there’s a fresh label on the block doing its bit to keep the landfills and ocean clean–Thaely. Named after the Hindi term for a plastic bag to draw the audience’s attention to the mounting plastic pollution, Thaely is a sustainable sneaker brand that makes shoes from discarded plastic. And you’d be surprised to know that its brainchild is a 22-year-old, Ashay Bhaave.

Ashay Bhave
Meet Ashay Bhave

Born in Mumbai, and currently residing in Dubai, Ashay has always wanted to better the world and contribute to environmental welfare. Spurred by this passion, Ashay introduced an innovative solution that paved the way for a greener fashion industry. Moving closer to its goal of cutting down the plastic globally, Thaely has recycled about 36,000 plastic bags and 25,000 plastic bottles since it started production at the beginning of this year. In a chat with the young CEO and creative director, we find out more about the label.

The Idea

ASHAY BHAVE – I started Thaely after I heard about the single-use plastic ban in India. Though the law was widely celebrated, it was never imposed in most areas. I also found out that on an average 5 trillion plastic bags are consumed each year worldwide, and 14% of plastic bags make up the biggest portion of all marine plastic waste. Despite this, there was almost no real way of entirely recycling plastic bags and I was motivated to find a solution to this problem through ThaelyTex—a fabric that looks and feels like leather but is made entirely out of waste plastic bags.

Recycled Shoes
The Shoes

The Material

ASHAY BHAVE – We use 10 plastic bags and 12 plastic bottles for one pair of Thaely Y2K Pros. We use ThaelyTex for the upper (part of a boot or shoe above the sole) and rPET made from plastic bottles for the upper and shoelaces, recycled rubber for the sole, and vegan glue. The shoe box is plantable—it’s made from recycled paper, dyed with waste coffee grounds and has basil seeds embedded in it.

The Main Model

The Process

ASHAY BHAVE – The production process starts with the collection, segregation and sanitation of waste plastic bags. These plastic bags are processed into ThaelyTex, which is then shipped to our shoe factory where it is assembled with other components to make the final shoe. The production process does not need any additional chemicals nor does it release any toxic chemicals as a by-product.

The Procedure

Challenges

ASHAY BHAVE – The biggest challenge we faced was right at the first step of acquiring the plastic bags. To my surprise, I found one online when I received a message on LinkedIn from TrioTap Technologies, a waste management plant in Gurgaon. They were not only interested in collecting waste plastic bags but were also willing to process it into ThaelyTex.

What’s next for Thaely?

ASHAY BHAVE – We have a few more colours coming up and a high-top version is being prototyped. Also, we plan to launch apparel soon.

Pets in Diwali

How to Take Care of Your Pets in Diwali

• Keep the pets restricted inside a room

Avoid the pets coming with direct contact with the crackers and other fireworks and let them stay in an area enclosed. Shut down all the doors and windows of the room so that the loud noise cannot reach their ears as these sounds create anxiety in pets. The diyas and other lightning objects should be kept away from pets as they don’t understand that this may harm them.

• Cover the ears of pets with earmuffs

Try to keep your pet’s ears covered with earmuffs or any soft piece of cloth to avoid the noise created by fireworks. The sound becomes unbearable and hazardous for dogs as their hearing sense is 7 times that of humans so the volume affects them the most. Play soothing music in their surroundings so that they get distracted from outside noise.

• Keep your pets out of reach from sweets of Diwali

Stop your pet from eating a lot of sweets as eating too much may affect their digestive system. The sweets also may not suit their digestion because of quality issues. During Diwali don’t forget to feed your dogs with their regular food and don’t feed them with whatever you eat.

• Maintain cleanliness by removing all burnt crackers and chemicals associated with it

During Diwali, a lot of chemical mixed items are used like crackers, pooja materials, rangoli colours and other toxic elements. Make sure that after the celebration everything is removed and the house is cleaned as chemicals are harmful to pets and they may by mistake lick those items with chemicals or end up consuming them. Also, keep in mind electrical connections and remove circuits to prevent your pet from getting electrocuted.

• Keep your pets hydrated

Water is a very essential need of pets so give them required water to drink in a suitable area. Water will help them in dealing with the anxiety caused by loud noises and fireworks. It is a good suggestion to take your pet to a veterinarian and get an anxiety injection.

Food LEFT is Food WASTE, Choose Wisely, Eat Happily.

                                                                  - Sonali Patil

Food And Its Importance

We’ve often heard that food is the fuel for the human body. Food is the essential ingredient to sustain in life not only for humans but all the living beings available. Food fuels the body with sufficient nutrients that provide energy for carrying out all the functions and growth activities in the body which includes breathing, digesting, repairing and keeping the immune system healthy. Why do we as humans need to eat well? The answer is quite simple, To Live well. If we do not eat well and so not take a well-balanced and healthy diet, the chances of getting ill and catching various diseases increase. Food is the basis of living and is regarded something to be grateful for.

Food And Its Importance

Decoding The Nutritional Value

Even if food is available to us simply and we eat it, this is not enough. We need to check on the nutritional quality of the food items. Substances with a high nutritional value will dictate the appropriate growth and development of our body accordingly. Foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and dairy products are known to contain a higher nutritional value. It is said that nutritional wellness can have a direct impact on the mental health along with exploring the emotional and physical relationship humans share with the food they eat. Rather than focusing on the quantity, it’s highly important to utilize the correct quality of the food. Let’s take a simple example to have a deeper understanding. If a milkman adds more water in the pure milk in order to increase the quantity, then directly its quality is reduced.  Nutritionists spend a lot of time and effort to scientifically prove that total digestible nutrients are very less as compared to the total amount of food intake because of reduced nutritional value even if the quantity is large.

Nutritional Value

Comparison Between The Rich vs The Poor

It is unfortunate that the quality food availability in our country is unequal for its people. It depends upon various factors like caste, religion, status region and many more. Different people have different choices when it comes to the food they eat. Generally, some people like the poor of the country do not even get one meal a day as a basic necessity to survive. It’s ironic how there’s more than required food accessible to the rich and financially sound section of the society. When a reliable access to a sufficient quantity of nutritious food is denied, it is referred to as food insecurity. One of the factors includes poverty which is the common cause of food insecurity. Poorer households tend to spend large part of their incomes on food which results in higher food prices for them. Low income households tend to be more food insecure. Therefore, reduction of poverty is the key for food security in the country.

Empowering The Local Sellers

We people are set with the mentality to buy the highest priced item as well thinking that it’ll be more refined having a high quality ignoring the local sellers of the place. Local stalls and people there work hard in making the food items available to us. It’s not true that every local stall contains the food which is spoiled and comes with less quality. It’s true that vendors have the food which is uncovered and can lead to various infections. Besides that the freshly prepared food in front of the customers for instance sugarcane juice and coconut water are regarded as highly valuable nutritious drinks as compared to the ones sold in various packaging. Still people will go with the packaged juice not paying heed to the local sellers. Empowering them with consumers’ trust is mandatory.

Empowering The Local Sellers

Stop Wasting Food While Others Go Hungry!

What Next!?

It will be highly valued and beneficial in the long run if one understands the problem of lack of food available to the people. It’s disheartening when a poor child sleeps with an empty stomach. We need to consider the wastage of food and stop it as much as possible. The following are the ways in order to prevent the lack of availability of food for the common masses-

1) Reduce The Food Waste. Begin with yourself in your surroundings and motivate more people to follow the same practice. As we say, “Every single bite is sacred”

2) Reduction Of Poverty And Climate Change Control to lessen the food insecurity.

3) Stop The Market Dominance By Corporate Giants who regularly indulge into unfair practices with the local food producers.

4) Avoid Lack Of Access To The Farming Lands for the farmers of the country resulting in less production of the food crops.

5) Eat Healthy And Avoid Unhealthy to for sustainable living.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Share it with others and spread the word about this. Until, we see you again, Live The Impaac Way!

Stop Food Wastage
